Build your brand for your small business with a compelling origin story.

Your origin story may not be the most important story you tell. But it’s one of the most requested.

You have many opportunities to build your brand and grow your audience with a strong origin story … and many opportunities to confuse or even send away your audience.

For instance, a fitness trainer said, “People frequently ask how I got into this.”

“So what do you tell them?” I asked.

“I tell them the truth. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I studied design in art school but I didn’t want to be a designer.

“One day I was working out at a new gym. I got to talking with one of the trainers. It occurred to me that I could become a fitness trainer myself. I liked it. So I got myself certified and now I’ve got a full schedule of private. clients.”
