Are you a celebrity (or a fan) in your business?

Taylor Swift is an unquestionable celebrity. I’ve avoided most of the hype, but I was reading an article with the admiring line, “She really knows her brand,”

So of course I asked, how does this apply to business, especially a small service-based business, with maybe one owner? The kind I like to work with?

One takeaway is, if you’re reading this you’re probably not a celebrity.

I remember being a fan, several years ago when I was new. A Celebrity archetype said, “I give the same webinar every month. People listen over and over!”

So I tried the same thing and, of course, it didn’t work. I’m an Educator. People want new and different insights from me. They want aha moments.

So there are really two takeaways. The second is to know your brand.

There are two types of business owners who can get away with stories about themselves and their childhood….role models and celebrities.
