There’s a new trend in LinkedIn Connections.

You may have heard the expression, “Damned by faint praise.”

As explained on this website, this expression means you gave someone a compliment in such a way that you communicate, “You really sucked at this.”

For example, your new colleague doesn’t do his job well. So you compliment him on being punctual.

On LinkedIn, the trend might be called, “Killing the Relationship by Effusive Praise.”

For the last few weeks, I’ve gotten messages like this:

Your content is amazing, Keep inspiring the LinkedIn community.

Was just checking out your profile a bit. Love the mission you’re on and the positivity you’re spreading Much needed in today’s times! Appreciate you.

Mary brought up your profile to Jim and myself the other day and we were pretty impressed from checking out your profile. I really love what you are about. Hope all is well,

Can you guess the problem?

These comments don’t show they’ve actually visited my site and my profile.
